Two days before Christmas, 2003, in the early stages of a painful divorce, I read a newspaper article about a remarkable therapist, Geri Dubé, who warned the interviewer that the holidays were often tough for new singles. I realized she could help me, and so I made an appointment for the next day, Christmas Eve. In that first session, she told me, “You don’t need therapy, you need a coach.” I’ve been meeting with Geri weekly ever since.

Things got worse before they got better, as I sank into full-blown clinical depression. Geri recognized the signs, though, and encouraged me to get treatment separate from our sessions. Writing these words doesn’t begin to do justice to Geri’s efforts on my behalf, in a process that took several months. Her insight and unswerving support absolutely helped give me my life back.

Geri’s enthusiasm, cheerfulness, and encouragement are always present. She is at her best blending traditional coaching with creative role playing and modeling. Every session has been fun and frequently filled with laughter and joy.

In my months with Geri, we have worked on finding new outlets for my creativity, setting goals periodically for personal growth, and readying to take the plunge into mid-life dating. Coaching, indeed! She has helped me rediscover the joys of living to the fullest, and in the process I have gained a true friend. Hearing my story, how could you not want to work with Geri yourself?

I first met Geri after seeking a counselor online, and her name came up as a local therapist. The moment I met her, it was obvious to me that she stood out from all the rest. There is an essence about her that puts you immediately at ease. She is compassionate in her approach, yet firm when she believes that you have started down a path that may not be the best choice. She provides insight from her own past experiences and relates that to what you may be going through as well. She did this for me, and it was immensely helpful in getting me to think about things from another point of view (not always easy!)

Initially, I went to help my marriage, but what I came away with was a greater sense of myself and the things I need to do to make myself happy. I learned that the key is to take care of yourself first and then you will be better able to love and accept those around you.

I can't recommend Geri highly enough! Just be sure not to book her out completely because I still may need her an hour or two here and there to get another good dose of insight!

We went to Geri wanting to discover new tools to communicate with. Geri not only helped us with our communication as a couple, she led us to see how essential it is to have a clear understanding of ourselves as individuals. Since we began seeing Geri, we've grown to know how to nurture each other's needs and how to feed our own so that our relationship becomes stronger. Oftentimes, counseling experiences can seem too impersonal and clinical. From the first session, you see that's not the case with Geri. She combines professionalism with her own down-to-earth style of caring and a great sense of humor to help you truly get the support and skills you really need.
